UNIQUE Dutch W-SS volunteer Set

Very special group of a Dutch volunteer for the ‘Waffen-SS’ Petrus Gerardus (Piet) Hertogh. This set was found in 1971 during a house renovation on the ‘Groenstraat’ in the city Roosendaal.
Piet Hertogh was born in 1915 at the Groenstraat in the city Roosendaal. Piet and his three brothers were volunteers for the Waffen SS. Piet Hertogh was seriously injured during the battle near Leningrad (Lake Ladoga) on April 21 1944, and would died of his injuries the same day at the age of 28. His younger brother Gerrit Hertogh, born in 1922, who was in the same unit, and was witness of this tragedy. His statement is on paper.
The group consists of a portrait photo of Piet Hertogh periodically framed with a poster of Jezus between his photo and back plate, his WESTLAND cufftitle, SS party pin and Verwundeten abzeichen pin, original photo ‘Fotodienst der NSB’ and his belt buckle. The belt buckle is in worn condition, the buckle itself is marked and in used condition. The set comes with the reports and photos of his brothers.
