Glider Pilot Helm

WW2 British Glider Pilot Crash Helmet – 1st pattern

Very rare opportunity to purchase a genuine WW2 British Glider Pilot Crash Helmet, this is an early 1st pattern, early patterns did not have press stud fastenings added to accept an oxygen mask. The condition of this crash helmet is complete and very good. Issued to British Army Air Corps – Glider Pilots who famously wore them during Operation Overlord, the D-day invasion and Operation Market Garden in Holland. The helmet is having most of its original brown coloured lacquered fabric cover. Internally the webbing liner is very good and the chamois remains very clean. The rubber earpiece cups are perfect and having the headphones and externally wired loom present. The leather part of the helmet is also very good, Air Ministry (AM) marked with size 6 7/8. The elastic chinstrap and snap fasteners is also good and complete. Shows traces of usage.
