Camouflage RAC – Mk1 Steel Helmet 1943

WW2 Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) Mk1 steel helmet. The first steel helmet adopted for use by tank and RAC crews was the RAC Mk1 Steel Helmet. They used the same shell as the Dispatch Rider helmet and second pattern airborne helmet which has a metal rim fitted to the edge of the body. The Mk1 pattern RAC helmet was fitted with a Mk2 liner as found in Mk2 helmets, this was held in place with a bolt and nut. This helmet is in good, used condition as found, looks like there is something written to the front of the helmet. This helmet has the complete full length chinstrap. Liner is maker marked BMB what indicates the company Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd. Nicely dated 1943. Not seen very often in this condition.

Used by British, Canadian and Polish armoured crews. These helmet are getting hard to find!
