Battledress Lake Superior Regiment
Original Canadian Battledress to a Captain of the LAKE SUPERIOR REGIMENT (Motor) which was part of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division. The tunic is in nice used condition with normal traces of usage, maker markings are faded but we can tell by the collar closing system this tunic is dated before 1943 and I would say 1942 as it has plastic shoulder strap buttons. Tunic is having a normal size. The tunic bears cloth insignia and service chevrons with printed division patches.
The battledress comes with its original shirt, this is a US manufactured shirt. The regiment was a motorized unit, they also had many Bren Carriers. Interesting to know, the LSR wore the khaki coloured beret but also the black coloured beret what was worn by tank crew.
Hard to find battledress with an interesting regimental history!
The regiment mobilized ‘The Lake Superior Regiment’ for active service on 24 May 1940. The Lake Superior Regiment (Motor) embarked for Britain on 22 August 1942. On 26 and 27 July 1944, it landed in France as part of the 4th Armoured Brigade – 4th Canadian Armoured Division and it continued to fight in North-West Europe until the end of the war.
